First, the upgrade will happen in two phases. Starting today, the network will initiate the testnet upgrade to Core 23.0. After a successful testnet upgrade and testing period, the second phase, which consists of the Oasis mainnet upgrade, will begin.
Here’s what changes with Oasis Core 23.0. Node operators are getting major improvements to their user experience, which focused on security and efficiency optimizations. On-chain governance is also seeing expansive changes for voting eligibility and proposal scope. Major updates to key rotations for ephemeral and state keys are also introduced in this new release. And parallel runtimes received significant upgrades across query latency, future upgrade performance, and overall performance enhancements. Read more details on Oasis Core 23.0 features in the Oasis documentation.
Network validators have some homework! During both phases of the network upgrade – testnet and mainnet – network validators are encouraged to review the Oasis Network documentation and access the new Oasis Core release here. For detailed instructions on completing a validator upgrade, click here.
